Harry Potter Question

Which actors have not replaced the image of certain Harry Potter characters for you?

This does not mean they are a bad actor/actoress but it was not how you imagined them.

None of the main three - I still have very specific images of them in mind when I read the books.

Those are the only ones I can think of concretely - I know there are some on the opposite end too. Richard Harris is pretty much my image of Dumbledore now, as is Maggie Smith for McGonagall. Hagrid is another who I picture more and more like the movies each time.

I'm not sure about everyone else though! Good question!

Otherwise, the actress that plays Luna, close, but not exactly how I pictured her.
Same with Dumbledore. And I agree, Michael Gambon is the closest to what I picture him to be...but not quite.
Narcissus doesn't fit for me either. I always pictures someone more, actually, someone more like Lucius...LOL, Loreal girlish looks with an icy disdain.

Now, on the other end of the spectrum of this question.....if I may....

All hail Alan Rickman as Severus Snape. I forever more and can not picture him as any other...!!!!
Second, Maggie Smith as Minerva McGonagal. Another character that can not be seen as anyone else.
Hagrid is movie Hagrid for me now as well.
Gary Oldman has grown into Sirius Black for me.
The elder look of Hermione is now the movie version for me. Though, as a child, it didn't fit for me.

But, I must say again, Severus Snape can never be anyone else for me but Alan Rickman now.

Rupert Grint from the fourth onwards
Emma Watson from the fourth onwards
Bonnie Wright from the fifth onwards
The twins from the fourth onwards
Michael Gambon (I do, however, picture Richard Harris as Dumbledore :D)
Rhys Ifans (Xenophilus Lovegood)
There are a few of them, and there are several I haven't listed. But a lot of people were quite like how I pictured them in the books :)

Both Richard Harris and Michael Gambon are so not like I am picturing Dumbledore when I read the books. I got used to Michael Gambon in the end as he is more close to what I imagine.

Kenneth Branagh as Lockhart is also not what I pictured when I read CoS. He's awesome of course, but reading the books, I see someone younger, someone more Hugh Grant-ish maybe :P

And last one is Helen McCrory as Narcissa. I have also pictured someone younger and I am not so crazy about the hair. :P

That's funny you mention Hugh Grant - he would have been approached for the part. Both him and Ken Branagh are great actors. When I watch movies with Hugh Grant I can't help thinking about what he would have done as Lockhart...

Emma Watson - Hermine has bushy hair and buck teeth.
Tom Felton - Draco looks slightly more formal in my mind.
Bonnie - Ginny looks younger and cuter.
Helena Bonham Carter - I always poctured Bellatrix with long straight hair a few knots. She's a lot thinner due to time in Azkaban. She's taller too and has darker eyes.

1. Narcissa looks at lot more like a younger Cruella DeVil in the movies and i pictured her as looking EXACTLY like a female Lucius, hair and all.

2. I picture both Fleur and Bill as i originally imagined them too. I don't think the actors do them justice, appearance wise.

3. Ginny: I always pictured her a little "geekier" even as she got older. More freckles and stuff.

Another thing to note, is that a lot of places in the books i still picture differently than the movies. Like Harry's bedroom, for instance.

Most of the movie characters, however, have taken over my mind xD

The only actor I picture in my mind when I picture one of the characters is Evanna Lynch as Luna. All the actors were good, but when I reread the books, I still see all of the characters as I originally pictured them, except Luna. She now invariably looks like Luna in the movies. Possibly because the other actors, while good, were just playing their characters. Evanna IS Luna.

other than matthew and tom felton grow spurt (which is a nice surprise, but I always imagine draco the same height as harry and ron will be the tallest.) I like the movie version better than my imagination.. only lupin, I imagine him to be younger, and just a little more soft/kinder looking young man. but after the movie end I always imagine them the way the actor portray them/

1. Ginny for sure. i mean she wasn't played that well and i'm not saying bonnie is a bad actress, i'm jus sayin she wasn't right for ginny. plus her hair wasn't red enough for me and i jus didn't ever see her like that.

2. i imagined narcissa to have a younger and prettier look to her. not sayin helena mccroy isn't pretty i'm jus sayin she wasn't right for narcissa. plus i hate the hair. it was really important to me that they were all blondes.

3. i also thought that the bloody baron could of been scarier...he wasn't that scary to me.

4. and mrytle to me wasn't ugly enough. i thought her actor was to pretty for her.

He did not have the right period dress - more XVIIth century in the movies while he's a contemporary of the Founders of Hogwarts - which was founded around 1000. Go figure.
