do people in slytherin have freinds outside of slytherin?

Im sure that they do. Think about it, we only see really prejudice, "pureblooded" slytherins as "main slytherins" and they are big on tradition and blood status, so many arent going to want to hang out with other houses because in their opinion, they are of "lesser" blood and status.

But we dont really see the background characters as much, so we dont know who they hang out with.

And when you look, you dont really see the other houses fratanizing with each other either. Their was that Dumbledore's army, and Harry/Cho, as well as the Trio's friendship with Luna, but other then that, the students in general seem to stay within house groups. This looks to change as they get older.

This is actually a really good question to use when writing a fanfiction! Create a slytherin who has a variety of friends, not just slytherins.

Either way, I have to say I don't believe they would, at least, not while they're at school. I don't think many students in the other Houses, even in Hufflepuff, would trust a Slytherin because of the preconceived notion that they're all bad. I like to think that changed after Harry's time though...

Main slytherin characters, no, old characters like Serverus, well he was friends with Lily, but in the books he wasn't a kid, and we're talking modern age I presume, so, no main characters in Slytherin, were friends with other houses.

maybe not during school years as they are arch rival.once they get out of school and forget old times,then perhaps...lke dumbledore and slughorn..even the gryffindors don't have that many friens outside their house either...the only real friend they had was luna who was kind of an outcast anyway
