-The Next Day-
I was in Spanish class listening to Mr. Schue, Puck, Finn, and Artie sing "La Cucaracha" by Kumbia Kings. I looked around the classroom and saw everybody had the same look on their faces as I did. Vacant.
Principal Figgins came to the classroom. "William, we need to talk."
"Uh, okay." Mr. Schue followed Principal Figgins to out of the classroom.
Thank God.
-The Next Day-
We were sitting in the choir room, waiting for Mr. Schue's arrival.
He then walked in, wrote the number 2030 on the board, and asked, "Where do you guys think you'll be in the year 2030?"
"Broadway", Kurt and Berry said in unison.
"Walking", Artie said.
"In jail, or dead. Or both", said Puck.
"No", Mr. Schue said. "Learning spanish."
"Huh", I asked.
"Spanish will be the most popular language in 2030", Mr. Schue explained.
Then a guy walked in speaking Spanish to Mr. Schue.
"I know", said Mr. Schue to the guy. "Guys,", he turned to face us, "this is Mr. Martinez."
Mr. Martinez smiled at us.
"Whitest", I heard Sugar say.
"Teeth", I heard Berry say.
"Ever", I surprisingly heard Artie say.
"This weeks assignment", Mr. Schue continued, "is to sing songs by Latin performers or descendants."
"You guys need perform with duende", said Mr. Martinez.
"What's duende", Finn asked.
"It means dwarf, dumb ass", said Santana.
"Right", said Mr. Martinez. "But it also means passion. I want you guys to let the music flow through your body."
"Could you show us how", asked Santana.
"Sure. Uno, dos, tres, cuatro!" Mr. Martinez started singing "Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO.
We all started dancing and singing with Mr. Martinez. It was one of the most fun performance we did, in my opinion.
-The Next Day-
After Mercedes performed "Don't Wanna Lose You" by Gloria Estefan the other day, Sam and all the other boys decided to perform "Bamboleo/ Hero" by Gipsy Kings and Enrique Iglesias.
I couldn't help but notice Sam flirting Mercedes while he was singing. It wasn't hard to see, actually.
Once they were done, we all applauded.
"That was muy fantastic, guys. 'Muy' means very. But what's with the funky boots", said Mr. Schue.
"Mr. Martinez has been teaching us about Latin culture, and these boots are, like, a trend", answered Finn.
"I can't wait for your performance, Mr. Schue", Santana said as she turned to face Mr. Schue.
"My performance?" Mr. Schue had a confused look in his face.
"Yeah, to defend your Spanish rep. I'm sure it's going to be muy fun to watch." Santana smiled at her wit.
I smiled at her wit, too.
-The Next Day-
We were in the auditorium watching Mr. Martinez and Santana perform "La Isla Bonita" by Madonna. They were actually amazing.
I was sitting next to Finn when I heard him say, "What's with the shiny jacket, Mr. Schue? I thought you were Kurt."
"I'm wearing a traditional matador outfit", Mr. Schue replied.
At the end, we all applauded.
"Thank you", said Mr. Martinez. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have papers to grade." He walked to the left of the stage and was gone.
"The floor's all yours, Mr. Schue." Santana stepped down from the stage and sat with the rest of us.
Mr. Schue, Brittany, and Mike got up and walked towards the stage. As Mike and Brittany disappeared backstage, Mr. Schue took center stage. He began singing "A Little Less Conversation" by Elvis Presley, but in Spanish. Then, with horns on their heads, Mike and Brittany charged at Mr. Schue like angry bulls. Mr. Schue took out a red cloth that matador's use to fight bulls with, and dodged Mike and Brittany.
Once they were done, we all clapped. Except for Santana.
-The Next Day-
We were in Glee club, then Mr. Schue had walked in. He was talking to Santana. "So it was you who talked to Principal Figgins."
"Yeah, so?"
"Why?"
"Because you treat Spanish like a joke by teaching already known stereotypes. Why did you even become a Spanish teacher?"
Mr. Schue went silent for a few minutes. He then said, "Because it was the only job open at the time."
Santana smiled, satisfied with Mr. Schue's answer. "A wise teacher once told me that without passion, there is no success."
"Who told that?"
"You."
The bell then rang.
