Glee Question

Why would an artist not want their music on Glee?

Several artists have refused to let Glee use their music. I understand that the musician has the right to refuse the use of their song, but I made a list of reasons that the musician and/or group would benefit for Glee.

1. Glee was voted the best comedy on television and gets millions of viewers every week. Why wouldn't a musician and/or group want their music or more of their music to be exposed to those viewers?

2. The musician and/or group gets paid to have their music used on Glee.

3. When Glee covers a song, it's been known that the original song also climbs up into the itunes top 200. Meaning not only do they make money from the cover but also for the original song as well.

4. Lastly, Glee has TONS of fans and they not only like(or sometimes dislike) the story lines but they LOVE the music. So, give the fans what they want-MORE music!

What's your opinion on the subject?
Please don't be harsh or cruel I was just wondering how everyone else felt about it.

There are people out there who don't like Glee. Plus, it's their song, they might not want the Glee version being more popular than the original. They put a lot of work into the song, they don't want Glee making more off of it by doing half the work.

Maybe they just realize that the glee covers are sometimes so much better!

But, when i read your reasons, it does seem rather strange. Maybe they just don't like the idea of someone else using their song, especially if they wrote it themselves, they'd want to keep it as theirs.

Bad luck for us though :(

also, and I can understand why someone wouldnt want to compete in charts with a karaoke version of their latest song

^whoa back off. FANPOP=PLACE OF FANS! @LeonCrimsonhart they probably wouldn't last as a true band, but Janice55 AND you should stay off the fansite if you dislike glee.

It has to do with artistic integrity. As an artist, you wouldn't want to see your work butchered and recompiled into a mainstream mess. It hasn't got to do with the money, it has to do to truly loving the songs you have made.

It probably has something to do with the song being...what's that word, copyrighted, or something like that. They may not want someone to redo their songs, so they restrict it, if that makes any sense.
