Glee Question

Glee's GQ Photoshoot - fun and sexy or way too far?

With all the talk about Glee's GQ photoshoot, I wondered what you all thought. Does it go too far?

The Parents Television Council had this to say:
“It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia. Sadly, this is just the latest example of the overt sexualization of young girls in entertainment,”

Others have reminded us that Cory Monteith is 27, and Lea Michele and Dianna Agron are both 24 - they are adult actors, not the characters they play. Besides, there is never any actual nudity in the shoot.

There are only two things that bother me about the shoot:
1. If we're supposed to be looking at these people are adults, why are they in libraries, classrooms, and in front of lockers? Isn't that kind of... creepy? And 2. WHY IS CORY FULLY CLOTHED?! :P

Honestly, there's been worse. Like, much worse out there.
I think that they could have picked better backdrops, since they ARE trying to get away from being seen as teenagers...but, again, there has been much worse by younger stars that played for younger audiences.
Although...
It did bother me a bit that Cory had all of his clothes on... ;)

It's so typical that America reacts to this. I seriously can't stand The Parents TV Council. I mean, child pornography? They are adults! They are making such big deal out of nothing. Shame on them! They're a disgrace to America.

Yeah, they're adults, but I can see why it upsets people too see women posing as cheerleaders in front og lockers and stuff. And I think there are far worse people who "disgrace america" lol.

Why? Why do they get upset? It's just something I can't understand. They are normal people, they should be allowed be sexy(funny) from time to time without ugly jelaous people complaining.

Just because people complain doesn't mean they are ugly jealous people who complain. I'm pretty sure they aren't jealous of the fact that Lea Michelle can almost flash her vagina at our faces. They are complaining because kids are open to this magazine. It's advertised on facebook or internet sites. Maybe the photoshoot was meant to be sexy, but it didn't come off that way. At least not Lea's photos.

it is a bit much but I agree that there has been much worse. Plus, they are 24 and 27, they are not actually teenagers, when other 20 something actors do these kinds of photoshoots no one cares or complains. I don't think it's a big deal

Alot of people argue and say that there has been worse photoshoots. Which there has. I agree. However, young people look up to these actors... Ryan Murphy said he wanted to create a family show, but not that innocent of a show. He said that the more adult humor hopefully flies over the younger kids' heads.

I have a sister who is very much a fan. She follows every one of the glee cast on twitter. She follows production of the episodes. She knows the tours and loves absolutely every single one of the actors on the show. As an older sibling, I don't want her to see her favorite actors in this light. Sure it was GQ, a magazine more for the adult population, but young kids still follow the doors the actors go through without knowing where those doors lead to.

The show is great. It teaches kids to express themselves, and don't let society govern you. If you are knocked down by the discrimination and cower in your shell, society takes away the liberty of being yourself. However, those photos, I thought, were exploitative and rather too adult.

True, he actors are not the characters they play, and they don't usually have a say in a photoshoot, but that does not disregard the fact that kids still look up to these actors for themselves and the characters they play.
