fmab is the manga faithful version of fma. The original anime went off on it's own course around the second season and made up it's own story. FMAB is the manga driven version

Think you might be referring to FMAB which stands for Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and that would be the 09 version of the FMA anime which is much closer to the manga compared to original version of the series.
