while i would love it to pick off exactly where it left off i think other actors are doing other projects and such and so i don't think it would be possible, finding out about the characters past would be great

Ideally, I'd really want to take up where the movie left off. I actually think placing it between the series and the movie, so Wash and Book are alive, would be really sad. I'd cry just looking at them, knowing they're going to die. =S "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"
Plus, it's insulting to Joss's story to pretend it never happened. I think he has plans for these characters and I trust in his genius! =D Whether or not his genius plans ever see the light of day. ;D

I'd love to see the story between the series and the film played out on TV but I like the graphic novels so I'm happy with that!
And yeah now that I know Wash and Book die it would just be sad!
A film about the war could be good but I'd like to see the character together rather than their separate histories. So I'm going with the future (after the film) option.

i dont think there is anything to put in between or after because joss knew that he would probably only have one season to put together all that he wanted to show. then the movie was the extra stuff he wanted to explain about river so i think more of that would be cool, just if they had secrets about everyones past just like in serenity. i think it would be a good twist on everything.

Actually, I'd like the movie to be more of an alternate ending. So they'd continue the show from where Firefly left off, but a viewer could end with Serenity. Or they go on with the show, and it'd be like Serenity never happened and never would.

It's a hard choice because I wanna see more of Wash etc but in the end, seeing the story progress is most tempting. Plus I wanna see Simon and Kaylee together! xxx

i havent read the comics between the two but i think a miniseries or a webseries would have been better to bridge the gap - there isnt enough room for a proper series or movie

before series = no river, simon or book

after the film is best but will be heartbreaking without wash and book, although we could see more of book in it as per link

i agree with heeeresjoyce but that could piss a lot of people off - travelling back in time to 2002 and getting fox to air the series properly the first time would be a much better idea

I'd like to have all of the characters back, but if we got a series in 2010 or later, it would have to be after the movie, maybe even years after or so in order to match the actor's aging, if the original crew could be brought back.

after the movie would be pointless cuz their wouldn't be much more for them to do. like it coulda gone back to the firefly formula except there'd be no real mystery anymore and would just be job after job and that's about it. there's also not much mystery about their backgrounds anymore either. so an inbetween movie would be like a continuation of the show we never got to see.

I just want Mal and Inara together!!!!! I'd also love a movie about their pasts especially Books. Ohhh, I wish that there was no movie so every one could be alive and the series could continue.

I'd miss Wash and Book, but I'd want to know what Zoe would do without Wash, how much River would improve, if they would go searching for information about Book, whether Kaylee and Simon have a kid, and most of all, MAL AND INARA!!!!!!!!

This way it could still reveal characters' pasts via flashbacks or other characters learning about it, and it'd keep their relationship and character development during the series. In a post-movie continuation I think I'd miss Wash too much.
