How do I win the 'Magic Counter' materia at the Choco Races?

My sources say that to get Magic Counter, you need to find it in the "Wintry forest" I have no idea what these means, but other sources say that you could find it in "Chocobo plaza." so maybe its not after you win the race autimatically, maybe you have to search around for it a little.

First of all tell princess to hit the road cuz she has no clue what you are talking about not even sure shes talking about the correct game. You can only get it at the golden saucer racing chocobos. After you win S-class so many times you get a prize pack...it has 6 of the best items they offer but not magic counter. After you win the prize pack it becomes eligible to win as a regular prize...but you still have to wait for it to pop up as a prize and have to hope if you do win the race that the numbers match the correct symbol too. Takes luck and perseverance to get this materia.
