Chain letters, everyone can recognize those wierd messages and the wierd stuff that contain the just drive some people crazy.
Before the internet was so popular over here in Mexico and before so many people started using cellphones; again, over here in Mexico, it wasn´t that easy to make chain letters, but guess what, someone found out that the regular mail was also a way of making chain letters.
Unfurtunetly, over here in Mexico there is this quote "el que no tranza no avanza" (if you don´t fraud you wont advance in life)and someone back in the 1990´s decided to take advantage of the ignorance of some of the people in Mexico. This fraud started with a simple chain letter saying something like this (I cant remember it that well because back then I was a little kid):
"This letter is send to you so you can help the Virgin of Guadalupe. All you need to do is make 100 copies of this letter, after that ask for money to 100 people and give each one of this people a copy of this letter, than send the money you collected to this adrress (I can´t remember the adrress) If you don´t do this in 4 months all of your family will be killed in a car accident."
Well, guess what, everyone started to panic making copies out of this letter and sending the money to the adrress.
One day this woman came knocking on my door and my mom answered, the woman was asking for some spare (is that how you say it I dont know) my mom gave some cents to the woman, when the woman recieved the money she gave the letter to my mom when she opened it she read it and unfurtunetly she almost believe it but my dad told her that she better dont do what the letter said my mom was very scared when the 4 months passed.
This chain letters had a very negative effect on my comunity I know this is very, very, very stupid but many of the people over here in Mexico are a bit religous (or ignorant)and they do belive in this kind of stuff, so next time you decide to make chain letter you better think about it twice. I just wrote that last part because I didn´t know how to end the article.... oh and also I posted this in the pick spot because I didn´t knew where to post it. :)
