Fanpop Users Answers

Edited a few minutes after I wrote my answer, because I found that it now works differently than it did before.

Edited answer:
Two things must happen in concert to be a featured user (which means being listed on the top page of the site, in the "Featured user" section):

1) You must be a fan of a minimum number of clubs (it's something like 12)

2) You must be randomly selected by the system when someone loads the page. That is to say, the "featured user" is randomly populated each time someone loads the page. This means both that there's no particular skill, achievement, or accomplishment to feel if you find that you are listed as a "featured user" and that you will eventually see yourself listed as a featured user if you keep coming back to the top page. Note: the staff have wisely put a "fix" in to prevent the module from generating a new three featured users if the page is simply reloaded. In order to get the system to randomly select a new three users, you have to go to a different page, then return to the top page. Conceivably you could keep going back and forth again and again until you see yourself listed; I don't recommend it.

i have had it work..just cause i was trying it oot i have had the fans change by reloading a couple of times

Does that happen consistently, every time you reload? I suspect that it's either got a time-based component, too - which means that you saw it right when the site "refreshed" the list, independent of your reload, or you can tweak your browser to drop some session info , which would fool the site into thinking that you were coming from another page.

OK, I've actually tried this out many times before. I've sat on the homepage and just refreshed and EVERY single time a new set of 3 featured users pops up. No going backwards and forwards (on dial-up it would take forever and drive me nuts,LOL). It works simply by refreshing.

Then it's inconsistent across different browsers/domains.
