Fairy Tail Question

Why is Fairy Tail so... cheesy?

I'm not necessarily saying it's a bad thing but the fact that they keep going up against stronger opponents that they always seem to beat no matter what, no training required. Apparently all they need is a near death beating and a speech about friendship and they instantly boost up 1000000 levels in strength. It's just.... once in a while I would like to see them GAIN there strength and actually work for it instead of them being so OP.

Anyways...I think because of the fact that their in a guild? Family even? I don't really know. It does have cliche moments like what you just mentioned.
