Yes. When David left so did the head writer (RTD) and the executive producer. There really isn't a lot of people still working on who to connect it to the first four seasons.

When nine left RTD was still the writer but when Moffat took over he completely revamped it and made it his own.

Oh, yes, I do! These two are very, very different from each other! As for me, the Eleventh is not the new-new-new Doctor, like the Tenth. He's just absolutely diverse.

I can definitely see where you are coming from, as my sentiments match yours. :D
I think the problem with Eleven, is that he does not relate to his past incarnations or companions very often. Apart from, 'Guilt...more guilt...still guilt' in 'Let's Kill Hitler', referring to Rose, Martha and Donna and 'If I can help Rose Tyler with her homework...' in 'The Wedding of River Song' (the latter of which I could not quite see any relevance with), oh, and meeting Sarah Jane and Jo in 'SJA', it is almost as though he is a completely new person. Whereas the beauty of the other Docs, is how they related to their classic companions and past incarnations.
I believe Eleven is good when it comes to modern-day stuff, what with the one word scenario in 'The Snowmen', being, 'Pond', hence encouraging him to help Clara. However, I would personally like to see him perhaps reminiscing about his lost companions. :D
