This and the Melody one. I feel like Ariel is one of the most misjudged and misunderstood Disney heroines but she will always be my bb girl. She didn't "abandone her family for a guy", this was not what her story was about AT ALL. Her story was about exploring the new world, seeing how other beings live, trying to make others accept that there is more out there than what they see (her father hated humans, but she made him see the different side of things). Also it was about growing up, because one day you have to fly away from your nest and start a new life on your own, learn to follow your dream and your heart. That was what Ariel did, at the age of only 16. Her giving away her voice was one of those hard choices we have to make while growing up, it was not her "giving away her personality to be with a guy", it was her taking a risk and choosing something that she cared about the most. And in the end it all worked out well because Ariel was a fighter. All she did and what she achieved was so admireable for such a young girl.
