Pocahontas and Merida decided to wait afew months before traveling to China to see Mulan because of Ping. Ping was still figuring out the day and night process. Mulan hated her friends had to wait, but at the same time, the whole scenario made it easier for her so in afew months, Ping would actually sleep through the night. Shang had requested for a temporary leave when Pocahontas and Merida came to town. The Emperor gave him that leave and because China was in good shape, he could take all the time he wanted! The former Captain couldn't wait to see Pocahontas and John, but dreaded seeing Merida. *I hope Merida at least straightens up her act!* he thought. Though, he promised Mulan he'd give her a chance. He'd do ANYTHING for Mulan.

Pocahontas was now 5 months pregnant and Merida's mother, Elanor, was now alittle over 5 months pregnant. Merida hated leaving her expecting mother, but her dad, Fergus, assured her saying she'd be fine. Pocahontas also hated leaving HER family and people, but with her dad's approval of traveling to a different land, she couldn't wait. It had been a long ship ride for them both, but it was worth it. Once meeting in the city, Mulan, Pocahontas, and Merida ran to each other and hugged like there was not tomorrow. The 3 friends laughed with joy at the sight of each other. John even laughed a little laugh, but Shang had a look of despair when he saw Merida. Luckily, he remembered his promise to Mulan.
*Do it for Mulan!* he told himself. He went up to the 3 girls and John. "Good to see you again, Shanghai!" John said as he grabbed Shang in a friendly head-lock. Shang couldn't help but laugh himself. Pocahontas was playing with Ping as Merida walked up to the 2 boys. "Hi." she greeted. "Hello, Merida!" John replied. "Hi." Shang said. Merida was stunned.
"Long time, no see." she finally managed to say. Shang nodded. "Will you excuse us for a moment?" John asked. He grabbed Shang by his cape and walked to another building. "Why are you still acting this way?" he asked. "I despise Merida's background." Shang answered. "So what if the girl has some extra spunk? She'll always have that side of her and long ago, you should've accepted that!" John scolded. "Look John, she's nothing but a pathetic burden!" Shang argued.
"You better respect her for who she is or you'll become a burden to yourself!" John owned. He walked off as Shang began to remember the promise again. Realizing he almost broke Mulan's promise, he closed his eyes in frustration. *Keep it together!* he lectured to himself. He suddenly felt the comfort Mulan's hand on his shoulder. "Is something wrong, General?" she asked. "No, I'm just kind of tired." Shang lied. "Well, we're heading back to the house for some food. That'll get your strength up." Mulan replied. The group headed back to the house for some food.
