The Best Era Countdown was a short two-rounds countdown I did last week. In Day 1, users chose their favorite era. In Day 2, users chose their favorite out of the remaining two.
3. Classic
(Princesses:Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora)
Unfortunately, the Classic era still seems to be the least favorite in the general concensus. The princesses of this era are criticized for being weak damsels-in-distress whose dreams revolve around a man. However, it's not as bad for them as it was before: you hardly see any bashing here. These princesses have been getting love for having the common qualities of being polite, sophisticated and kind.
Regarding the movies themselves, I feel like some users think they are a little too old-fashioned, but most agree that they have their charm.
Comments:
"I actually like the princesses from the Classic Era more, but I like the overall Ren Era better. [...]" - MacytheStrange
"Aww! I don't want to vote out the classics, but I love the Renaissance..." - rhythmicmagic
"By far! My favorite era ^_^" - dclairmont
"I really don't like the Renaissance Era." - princecatcher93
2. Renaissance
(Princesses: Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan)
It seems like Renaissance isn't the favorite era anymore *collective gasp*. What can I say? Usually, everything from this era is praised: the movies, the animation, the music, the princesses... You can name it. The princesses of this era tend to follow a more realistic trend than their predecessors, the Classic Princesses, even though some (most noticeably Belle) are just as idealized.
Users seem to feel that the movies, although made in the 90's, retain a modern feel to them. To this day, to the Disney fans in their 20's/30's, these movies remain the best.
Comments:
"I have a favorite princess in the Modern era too, but most of my favorite princesses, princes, and movies are from the Renaissance." - anonheart998
"It has absolutely the best Disney movies!" - BraBrief
"Defiantly though I adore cinderella but I love the disney renaissance" - QueenPerfection
"By far! I love everything about this era: The movies, the characters, the soundtracks, the animations, the stories... There's no movie from the Renaissance I don't love" - LibelluleBleu
1. Modern
(Princesses: Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Anna and Elsa)
Looks like the newbie gets the prize. Many people thought this era would lose, but soon it became apparent it had the upper hand. It won by a landslide.
This era is the younger fans favorite: of course, the movies are being made in your time, so it feels like a bread fresh out of the oven. The heroines are a perfect mix between the idealized and the relatable: they are superwomen, but we relate to them because their ideals are modern.
About the movies, there is no doubt this is a completely new age to Disney: CGI instead of traditional animation, a new kind of music, more Broadway poppy, a new type of humor, etc.
The Modern Era, the CGI era, is this generation's Renaissace, a light of hope after years of darkness to the Disney Animation Studios. However, it worries some people, who prefer hand-drawn animation over CGI. Will someday the hand-drawn and the CGI coexist, or will the hand-drawn animation be forgotten by Disney? Only time will show.

"Since this is about the era and not the princesses themselves, I say the modern era. The plot lets the characters develop more, and they have a different type of depth to it. They are breaking out more from stereotypes and such. I like all three though." - Jayden-G
"This Era I know will lose, but all my princesses, princes, movies that are in my top spots are from this era." - princecatcher93
"I used to think it was Renaissance, but after reevaluating all my lists, Modern beats them both by far c:" - CRaZy_rawR
"princecatcher93 - I don't think this era will lose." - Beautiful_Tiana
So, I hope you enjoyed reading about Fanpop's Best Era Countdown Results, and that you are satisfied with them. Sorry for the lack of pictures, I had trouble finding images with all the princesses of each era. Bye bye, and 'till next time!
