Disney Princess Question

What would Merida's Princess Rank List look like?

So on this website I have seen many talented users do a "favorite princess" list for the princess characters themselves and thought it was incredibly unique. I know there are many users here who are for more passionate about Merida and relate to her more than I do. For this reason, I would like to ask your guys' opinions on what you think Merida's list would look like? She is the only princess that no one has done an article for so I thought she deserved one.

If someone else would rather do the article, I would not find it offensive but I also do not mind taking the time to round up your guys' answers. I just thought it would be nice to see Merida's list.

MaidofOrleans said:
1. Mulan - she could connect with her for her love for her father and feeling stifled by her society's customs, and would also enjoy the action sequences
2. Jasmine - they had the same problem with not wanting to marry the men their parents wanted them to marry, but Jasmine doesn't have quite as much agency in her own fate as Merida might like so she doesn't beat Mulan for first
3. Pocahontas - they both used their words to stop a war, and Merida would probably appreciate that she chose family over romantic love in the end
4. Belle - they have similar dreams of adventure and a deep love for their father, and she could connect with Belle being trapped in the castle and arguing with the Beast
5. Rapunzel - she could connect with her desire for freedom and being trapped
6. Ariel - she could connect with the parental issues, but probably wouldn't like that she went after Eric without even knowing him
7. Snow White - I feel like she might remind her of her mother with her bossy streak and maternal instincts, but she wouldn't like that she ran away from her problems into the forest
8. Cinderella - they both were trapped, but she wouldn't like Cinderella's quiet way of standing up for herself
9. Tiana - she wouldn't like her all work no play attitude
10. Aurora - I think she would find Aurora boring since she's a hopeless romantic and hardly does anything

I didn't include Anna and Elsa since I don't consider them official DPs, but I can add them in later if you like.

Thank you for your insight! I love the lists like these and so surprised no one did one for Merida. If you'd like to add Elsa & Anna then I certainly wouldn't mind as I love your insight. I was going to post a list for Merida soon using others' comments if no one else made the article for her.

Interesting, I kind of thought she would get along with Jasmine as well because they are both closer with their fathers and have that free spirit.

Yes I agree that she shares more in common with Mulan and would admire more about her.

I was planning to write this once and STILL haven't done it yet because it's very hard to say what Merida post-character development would like.

1- Pocahontas? I think she'd not be in love with any of them really, but she would like some at least in a superficial way. Poca has all the freedom and privilege Merida would wish she could've had without having to fight so hard for it, and she's so connected with nature. she's a fighter but might respect that Poca didn't need to accomplish as much as she did with fighting.

2- Mulan. Not her personality at ALL, mind you, they're like fire and water and she would probably find Mulan a bit dull (except for the scenes with her dad or standing up to someone) but she'd love her skills and find her amusing.

3- Jasmine. A bit too girly and dependent on Aladdin in her view perhaps but VERY fiery and assertive, particularly towards suitors, especially given how sheltered she is, which Merida would like.

4. Anna. Obviously she wouldn't like how quick Anna is to get engaged but her feistiness, bravery, humor, she'd like all that. she would obviously relate a lot to Anna trying to fix the problems, and love when she punches out Hans.

5. Snow White. Definitely her favorite of the three Classics, because she faces all her bad circumstances only crying once, she's very frank and assertive, not afraid to work as a maid with seven messy guys despite her royal upbringing, loves animals, and is one of the funniest princesses. she's very girly, naive, and romantic, which of course Merida wouldn't care for, but she might find her amusing and at least tolerable.

6. Rapunzel. Merida would like her willingness to try new things even when she's scared of the world, her manipulating Flynn, how adventurous she is swinging off a cliff and such. But she would find Rapunzel way too passive and not understand why she stayed so long if she wanted to leave, nor would she like that she doesn't leave for her freedom or anything, she just sneaks out to see the lanterns for one day. She might have a love-hate thing going on with Rapunzel.

7. Cinderella. She'd just find her boring. She wouldn't dislike her, just feel neutral (pre-development Merida most likely would dislike her, however). At least she likes animals, and Merida would probably find her snark funny. Not to mention she'd probably say, "Well, at least she's the only one of the three who didn't pine after a lad!"

8. Belle. I thought about putting her before Cinderella but decided not to because while Merida wouldn't really care for Cinderella, she wouldn't hate her, and while she would like Belle's stubbornness, refusal to marry Gaston, and her closeness with Maurice, I think she would strongly dislike parts of her personality. Like with Elsa, they just have no shared interests at all, which I think would be somewhat important to Merida. Belle is calm, ladylike, and doesn't make a scene even when she's furious. Merida is none of that. (more in comments)

Belle loves reading romance novels in cozy libraries. Merida likes climbing mountains and sports. Belle put aside her freedom for her dad. Merida would probably fight to get out of that. See where I'm going with this? Their shared personality traits (stubbornness, assertiveness, etc.) would not help them get along at all, and on top of that Belle doesn't do anything Merida would admire so that's a bad combination. But I do think she'd dislike the next ones more. 9. Ariel was, in Merida's eyes, awfully quick to leave her vast and exciting home for a man "she doesn't know" and might find her way too obsessive and boy-crazy. She would certainly like her fearlessness and determination to do what she wants, but I think she'd be too girly for Merida. 10. Aurora. I considered putting her last, but at least because she didn't want a political marriage and likes nature (though otherwise she'd find her boring, weepy, and probably too girly). She might find her a slightly more frustrating version of Cinderella. Even if Merida did appreciate her going to the castle, I don't think she'd care for her personality. They're very different. Imagine Tia and Lottie trying to be friends if they never grew up together- like that, but 5x worse because at least those two still had some traits in common. Belle might frustrate her more, but they still have more common ground a bit and Merida would relate to her more- and not at all to Rose. 11. Tiana. Tiana would remind her of every negative quality Merida felt Elinor had, plain and simple. She wouldn't like her refusal to stop and smell the roses and would just find her too serious and a stick-in-the-mud. 12. Elsa. I think she'd flat-out annoy Merida. She runs from her problems and Merida wouldn't understand why. She's also feminine, more bookish and doesn't care about nature whatsoever from what we see. They have absolutely nothing in common, even less than Merida has with Belle and Aurora (well, except for the infamous coronation confrontation). she has incredible powers, but doesn't do anything but make pretty clothes and a pretty castle with them, which would probably strike Merida as ridiculously prissy and a waste. Plus she would REALLY hate how one minute Elsa has this cool Let It Go/"I don't give a crap about you lot anymore" moment, then ten minutes later she's fearful and hiding again. Now, that would grind her gears a lot, I think.
