Disney Princess Question

The Anna, Elsa, and Frozen situation! What are we going to do about it?

Okay, so ever since Frozen came out, we've been assuming that Anna and Elsa would be joining the Disney Princess line-up. However, they have yet to have their official coronation into the Disney Princess line-up. Unfortunately, people have gotten so used to having Frozen on this club that they just can't seem to stop. Yes, Disney Junior does have a Disney Princess thing where little kids tell what a princess does and what they admire about them, which includes Anna and Elsa (which is still going on). However, that doesn't mean that they will join. I mean, Tinkerbell was once a Disney Princess and was included in plenty of Disney Princess on ice shows but she's no longer a Disney Princess because she has her own franchise. That's not to say that I don't think that Frozen could have a franchise and still be part of the Disney Princess line but IT'S BEEN ALMOST TWO YEARS AND NOTHING! I mean, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Merida didn't take nearly this long to have their coronation into the Disney Princess line-up. Yes, the hype went down but that's because Disney let the hype go down and didn't keep on trying to promote the movies and prevent the hype from going down like they are with Frozen. I mean, if The Princess and The Frog got this kind of promotion when it came out, people probable still wouldn't be able to shut up about it. So there is no real guarantee that Anna and Elsa will join because Disney is clearly trying to make Frozen be basically their Shrek and Toy Story. It's been this long and what if when Moana is coming to theaters, Anna and Elsa are still not coronated? What do we do then? I mean, where do we cross the line? Being a princess and popular doesn't mean the character will get in. I mean, Meg is a princess because she married the prince of the gods and is popular but she isn't in the line-up. I've been over this before and even made a poll about this and most people seemed to agree that we should stop including Anna and Elsa until they are included in the l

I know a lot of people will argue to death that the Frozen hype is bound to die one day and it'll join the franchise then, but the question is: when? Frozen 2 is coming in a few years, guys. How long do you think it'll take for Disney to come up with a third movie or an animated series? Also, you have to admit that there is a chance it won't join the DP franchise. Nothing is written in stone. Disney was going to include Giselle in the lineup, but Amy Addams demanded royalties and they couldn't afford it. Tinker Bell was part of the franchise at first, but she was cut off later to start her own line.

Now that that's been cleared up, I'm free to share my thoughts on how we should proceed about it. First of all, stop including Frozen in the countdowns. It's fine if you want to include it in your articles and personal lists, but since they aren't part of the official line, they can't be included in these, just as Megara and Esmeralda aren't. It's fine to talk about them - we do it for all the Disney movies, but it shouldn't be our main focus. Second, put a stop to this endless roll of polls devoted to Frozen - one or two every once in a while is okay, but, like I've said, we should focus on the official DPs. It would also be preferable if they weren't allowed in icon contests and other club competitions. Also, we shouldn't add Frozen-related pictures to the gallery, save every once in a while.

I think that's it. I apologize if I'm coming across as bossy, rude, holier-than-thou and imperious, but I'm just trying to express my opinion.

This seems like a good policy. I'm going to stop including them in my lists and polls.

I personally think that we should be able to talk about Frozen informally if we want, as this spot has become more of a general community than strictly being for the 11 official Disney Princesses, and we do talk about other non-DP movies occasionally. However, I think we should stop including Frozen and its characters in countdowns, lists and contests.

Since they're not Official Disney Princesses, they're not part of this club, after all this spot is about the Official Disney Princesses. We also don't talk about Esmeralda or Meg or Giselle around here 'cause they're not Princesses. Just because Frozen is popular that doesn't mean they're automatically part of the Princess line-up. If Elsa and Anna will be officially part of the DP line-up then welcome in the spot ^^

I'm not sure and I almost never come on here anymore unless I have to say something lol so I'm not really involved with this, but, it's something to note that Frozen has its own franchise page on the Disney Website and none of the Disney Princess Movies do. (They have pages for their movies but not a franchise page.) So, maybe that's a sign? Even though there is a link to the Frozen page on the Disney Princess one, I'm pretty sure that's just there for people who go to the site expecting to see Anna and Elsa there.

U can't say that they won't be added while the franchise is still so strong, their still just starting the shows and the park additions, remember how long the lion king lasted? They always add the next princess right after their own movie franchise has died down...it would be ridiculously unwise not to add anna and elsa to the line, but they don't NEED to yet, but they basicly have their feet in the door, Japan keeps on putting out new princess merchandise with the princesses and they keep including elsa and Anna....I don't think we need to do anything, their such a strong princess presence that people aren't just gonna stop talking about them or including them in stuff, I'm certainly not going to

Well the Lion King took about 20 years to die down! We can't wait that long! Plus, it's not like Nala was ever going to join the Disney Princess line. Eventually fans are going to get tired of waiting. A Disney store worker or executive or whatever actually said it would be a dumb move to include Anna and Elsa in the Disney Princess line-up because it wouldn't be as profitable. The hype is still going strong and hasn't died down because Disney won't let it die. They didn't promote the other modern Disney Princess movies like they did with Frozen because they didn't keep on trying to keep the hype from dying down.

You're not one to talk about calling people names when mad because you called people dumb when we didn't agree with you that Anna and Elsa would be added. You're just swimming in hypocrisy today, aren't you? The argument about being scheduled for coronation but it was cancelled because of the hype just proves my point that they won't. Wouldn't they make twice as much money to include them in their own franchise but also in the Disney Princess line-up? Besides, once again, Tinkerbell was once a Disney Princess but was removed to start her own franchise, which is likely the same thing with Anna and Elsa. So far there has not been any real confirmation from Disney now, so all of your points are just theories and speculation.

I'm okay with however this continues, if people don't include them in polls that's okay, if they include them in the polls that's okay too, but yes, we need to make less Frozen related polls and stop including anything related to the movie in countdowns, but in articles and personal lists people can do however they want, I myself include them in articles and polls, although I did make polls a few months ago that wheren't including them

There are so many conversations about Anna and Elsa becoming in the Disney Princess franchise.
I have read in many articles that there are three requirements to make a Disney Princess.

There are three requirements to be an official “Disney Princess”. A) has a primary role in a Disney animated feature film, B) is human or mostly human-like (e.g. Ariel), and C) does not appear primarily in a sequel. It isn’t necessary to have the title “Princess” (or equivalent), but it does help.

Honestly, even though Frozen isn't "yet" part of the Disney Princess line, I still write my Frozen articles and comment about it on this club, because this is where I wrote my very first article. My first article was meent to express my opinions and feelings towards Elsa and why she's my favorite Disney character. Over time, I began talking about Frozen on this club. I talk about it on other clubs, like the Frozen one - but I still write my articles here because this is where my opinion on Frozen gets the most attention.
