Disney Princess Question

Is Eric related to Princess Aurora and Prince Philip?

During the dining scene where Ariel has her dinner with Eric on her first night on land, the potrait on the left resembles Philip and Aurora. Is he related to them or the producers deliberately put them there to remind people that Sleeping Beauty was the last Fairy Tale movie that Disney made?

I think its possible. The picture is distorted and viewed from a side angle. It also looks like it is possible meant to be a smudge painting which wouldn't have definetive lines. But the guys face is similar to Phillip, the hair is similar to. The woman has similar hair to Aurora's. The woman's dress looks like the peasant dress Aurora wore in the woods. The couple looks to be aged a little so it very well could be Phillip and Aurora. So I think it is very possible that they are related or that it is a little extra that the animators put in on purpose.

I believe that is a portrait of Prince Phillip & Princess Aurora! It makes total sense that Prince Eric would be a direct descendant of theirs!! Considering they are separated by about 500 years, he is probably their ten-greats-grandson or so!

Here are some of the reasons:

First of all, the most general: they're all royalty. The countries of origin for the two films (Germany for Sleeping Beauty, Denmark for The Little Mermaid) are neighbors.

Prince Phillip and Prince Eric are the two most bad@$$ Disney princes! Clearly Eric inherited Phillip's bravery, which was likely passed on through generations.

Prince Phillip and Prince Eric both fell in love with young ladies they thought were peasant girls. I think it was a nod when Eric said, "I'm gonna find that girl...and I'm gonna marry her!" to when Phillip said, "And marry the girl I love!" in response to when King Hubert commanded him to come to his senses.

Phillip and Eric also both fell in love with, respectively, Aurora's and Ariel's voices!

Prince Eric has King Stefan's coloring!! The black hair and eyebrows! (Melody got that coloring, too)!! Eric also has Prince Phillip's nose. Also, he has almost the same eye color as Aurora. Granted Aurora's eyes are more violet, but they appear blue sometimes. And Eric's eyes are so intensely blue that they're ALMOST violet (like Elizabeth Taylor's). Prince Eric has the same angular facial structure as Princess Aurora (and for that matter King Stefan & Queen Leah) too.

Uhh I can infer that Phillips kingdom is Germany while Aurora is from France, so it’s in the French German border

The painting on the wall hinted that this was possibly the case. But in my mind, Eric, Philip, and Shang are the bravest princes.

Well, we believe that he is Aurora's 14th great grandson based on time period in the both movies. Aurora's time period is in 1485 and Ariel's in the 1890 based on Ariel's clothing on the land. We subtract which gives us 405 years apart. Ariel is 405 years into the future of sleeping beauty. Then we subtract the years the movie came out because sleeping beauty is 1959 and Ariel is 1989. Only 30 years apart. We divid that 405 into 30. Which gives us 13.5 but because 13.5 doesn't exist. We round it which equals 14. So that the answer to your theory.

Hi it's Kittie_Pride again. For some reason Fan pop made me pick a different Username. I wanted to add this (from Wikipedia) about heather and briar: "Erica arborea (tree heath) is a species of flowering plant (angiosperms) in the heather family, Ericaceae. There are disjunctpopulations in Africa including the Ethiopian Highlands, the mountains of Ruwenzori and the Cameroon Mountains. In Africa it is normally referred to as giant heather. It is native to the maquis shrublands surrounding the Mediterranean Basin north to Bulgaria and west to Portugal and the Canary and Madeira Islands. Naturalised populations occur in south-eastern Australia.[1]  The wood, known as briar root (French: bruyère), is extremely hard and heat-resistant, and is used for making smoking pipes." See the name connection?! Erica, Latin name for heather...Eric and BRIAR Rose!!!!
