Disney Princess Question

About the Princess'

The ones like Pocahontas and Mulan. Why do you think they are Disney princess' when they're not. I mean Mulan saved China and Pocahontas and stopping a war. I think they're classified as a Disney Princess because of what they did in their movie. What they did was great for them which means that they're great. I think the princess' were kind of like woman power. They were meant to mean something to people...what do you think?

Pocahontas is considered a princess because her father is a chief.

As for Mulan, according to the Disney wiki "she is the only Disney Princess who is not royal by blood or marriage and is literally not one, however, she has honor of a princess because she achieved honor from the Emperor himself by saving China."

And in Mulan II she was treated as even more important than a princess.

Pocahontas's father was the chief which kind of makes her royalty. Mulan was added as a princess because she was such a hero and is sort of an honorary princess. Also, it adds some nice diversity to the lineup

In P's times there was not princesses because she lived in America in 1607 Her father was the chief and that is the closest thing to a princess in that time. Mulan was bowed to by the emperor which is a great sign of how great she is. She saved China thats amazing, the Emperor can't just make her his daughter like the three in the second movie. They should be considered as princesses because they might not marry a prince or have royal blood they did the most for society.

No, i don't think they should be counted as princesses, as quite clearly, they are not!!! You are only a princess if you are born one or marry a prince. These two did neither!!

Being the chief's daughter is nowhere near the same thing as being royalty. That would be like saying the President of the United States' daughters are princesses. Also, I don't think Disney made Pocahontas and Mulan princesses, I think this is completely fan-based. I have never seen them in any of the official Disney Princess marketing. "Princess" is an official title, it's not something that's just implied like in Mulan and Pocahontas' cases. There's no doubt that they were important in their stories, but they weren't princesses. My guess is that they were added by Disney fans who don't like any of the actual princesses (probably because their "damsel in distress" personas) and thought Mulan and Pocahontas should get more recognition. Which they should, but they shouldn't be inaccurately titled.

Also, I don't think Belle should be considered a princess since she never actually married Adam. That was also an implication.

Pocahontas and Mulan ARE in the Official Disney Princess line up...it is not just fan based...and I have seen them in the official Disney Princess Marketing and have gotten my daughters some of the products that do include them....And during Pocahontas time she was considered a princess by the settlers, but I do agree about Mulan not really being a Princess: linkand link
