Disney Princess Question

How do they make Rapunzel's hair so short?

When Flynn/Eugene and Rapunzel get into the village on her birthday the little girls braid her hair. And somehow when they braid her hair it goes fron 70 feet to about 5'-5'5", Is is possible to do that? Not with 70 feet of hair, of course but with about 2 feet of hair... Is it really possible to braid hair and make it shorter?

Since she obviously didn't have 66 feet of hair trailing after her, it would have had to have been braided over many, many, many times (around 42 times, actually. Congrats to those girls for having so much patience). As well, Rapunzel's hair weighs around 8.75 pounds (this is a rough estimate, again working purely with averages) which, combined with the weight of her head, would be somewhere around 19 pounds. Rapunzel, if nothing else, has an extremely strong neck.

When you braid hair, it's shorter but it wouldn't have shortened THAT much. Her 70 feet worth of hair would have still dragged on the floor.

Well did you notice that the braid was SUPER thick? I think they somehow brought it back up and kept braiding, and braiding, and braiding, ect.

That braid was so huge. It probably wasn't all 70 feet of hair just braided in a thin braid. There were probably multiple layers.

even for an animated film, so much hair length braided about ankle feet would be heavy to support. then again, when the hair long and loose, it would still be impossible to drag on the grounbd and again even for a fictional film where impossible in real life is cheated in the film.

They also used the flowers to lift up her hair more. So, it is somewhat possible.
