In Aladdin, the hero realizes that people love you for what's in your heart; not what is in your wallet (or bank account). In the Little Mermaid, Eric proved to us that he still loved Ariel when she turned into a mermaid in front of him. He didn't freak out. He went out to save her from Ursula. In Tangled, Flynn still loved Rapunzel despite not having magical hair anymore. This explains why he said to Rapunzel, "Did I ever tell you that I love Brunettes?" In Beauty and the Beast, Belle learned to get past the Beast's hairy look and fall for him.
