Manga, and it's no contest. Hoshino gives her story depth, the characters are all very layered. The anime is one-dimensional, skipped lots of things, added in unneeded filler, and either did no justice to, if not ruined, characters. I haven't even seen all the anime. But what I have, I wasn't impressed with. Same with Hallow
