Question for my fanfic

So, I'm writing a fanfiction, but there's something I need to know before I can continue. Stefan and Damon obviously have a ring that protects them against the sun. But does it have to be a ring or can it just be random?

Yes, and then Katherine turned her necklace into a bracelet, so as long as it's something that can be worn and is bespelled by a witch, then it'll work.
