Day #0
We had no idea what was coming to our quiet California town. It was something no one would no about. I live with a humongous amount of guilt after what has happened. I was a volunteer working with a small science museum, and I helped bring the end of my town.
Day #1
When bats started to appear in the bat-boxes that people put near the highway bypass, the people were ecstatic, especially the children who put up the bat-boxes. A group of teen volunteers had helped build the bat-boxes and do all the dangerous things the young kids couldn't do. All sorts of bats, from Pallid Bats to Big Brown Bats.
Day #4
More and more bats began to appear at the bypass, until the bat-boxes were filled to the brim. However, even more bats began to appear at the bypass. Some of them resorted to hanging upside down on the branches of trees. The kids would be entertained by the bats eating insects. One of them even called the bats "graceful" and "beautiful".
Day #9
The bats were starting to overcrowd the bypass. They began to swarm under the bridge. Occasionally, they would fly up under the bypass. People were starting to get concerned when they noticed that there were no insects whatsoever in all of the bypass area.
Day #11
When more bats began to show up, there was no longer any space for them. They began to move into the suburban areas. Many people had tried to remove the bats with poison or fire, but the bats response was...strange. They began to fight back. They ganged up on a single man, killing him. This was not normal.
Day #15
Three more people were killed by a cloud of bats, having their flesh torn from their bodies by those flying rats. No one would go outside, as it was too dangerous. We had to ration our food. Those who where brave enough to attack a cloud of bats was executed to that swarm of monsters.
Day #17
Thirty more innocent men and women were mutilated by those vicious bats. Many people were running out of rations. Some decided to board buses and tried to leave. This was a grave mistake. None of use know how, but the bats swarmed around the bus, and began to fill the bus with vicious bats. Those poor souls were ripped and shredded by those dreadful bats. Those horrible, evil bats.
Day #20 - The Final Day
This was the last day. Our day of rescue. The dreaded bats began to fall from the sky, as if they were exhausted. We never found why those bats swarmed and began to attack. But we must make sure this never happens again.
