Classic Movies Question

In your opinion, what makes a movie a Classic?

A friend asked me the other day what I thought made a movie a 'classic'. And I didnt know how to answer. Is it that it's been watched millions of times? The only movie of its kind? Really old? What do you think?

To me, a classic movie is one that you want to watch over and over again. No matter how old the movie may get. It doesn't really matter about its age; there are some movies that aren't that old but are classics. It is just eternal, it's a classic to put it simply!

I've seen plenty of old classic films. They usually have a great (believable) storyline, great acting and they make you think, there are many reasons really but they don't just "entertain" with car chases/stunts/explosions like a lot of films now do. Those type of films don't really appeal to me.
