YES! Everytime I watch it I choke up when Tod is left in the woods at the end, and when "The Best of Friends" plays: You know what's coming.
But hecl, I've lived it! lol And for the record, me and my cousin are "the best of friends". ;D

That Disney on Fox and the Hound is good i like first one Todd and Copper are both friends happerly playing together. When Copper and Todd are both grown up they are growling are fighting that quite a shame. Chief chase after Todd runs away. Todd and Copper make friends again in the end this movie good.

The ending scene isn't sad at all!

I'd say its more bittersweet more than anything. Are Copper and Todd separated from each other at the end of the movie - yeah, and I think that is what you are all focusing on.

Its the fact that two different species - who are supposed to be enemies and haven't been with each other for a long time - are still friends! Copper protects Todd after all this time!

But its the social commentary (in my view) that Disney is trying to make. People can be friends forever, but once you reach adulthood, the child-like innocence is gone. At this point, Copper knows he's the hunter and Todd is the prey - and the two know that. Copper, because of the way he is raised, would have to chase after Todd,,,but Copper makes his last stand by protecting Todd.

The two being separated is just the way of the world. Unfortunate but true.

It has quite a bittersweet ending for a Disney film. It's not a sad conclusion, but there is definitely something heartbreaking about it. They part ways while still remaining friends - quite brave of Disney Studios to end a film this way, when most of their movies have an all-round happy ending for the good guys where everything works out perfectly.

In that sense, The Fox and the Hound has a little extra realism to it; sometimes life doesn't work out exactly the way we'd want it to, but it doesn't mean we have to give up on everything. It's a good life lesson, and not your traditional Disney-esque fairytale ending.
