Also easily forgiven bullies, mean characters we're supposed to root for, next generation sequels, and enemies turned lovers

sunnyfields picked Chubby characters are silly, clumsy losers.:
Also, first movie villain's vengeful relative is next movie's villain. I didn't like it as much in Littler Mermaid 2.

Mongoose09 picked arrogant, traditionally manly woman who is mean to her less manly colleagues:
This one really bothers me, and also the chubby characters one even though I love Pumbaa.

I don't mind the "unfriendly character we're supposed to root for" if it's laid outright in the writing that the character isn't a saint, because no one is perfect and imo it's refreshing to see protagonists that aren't entirely morally righteous (e.g. Megara). It's different if the character is being portrayed as a beacon of goodwill & truthfully isn't (bc that's problematic), but in the case of Tulio we're not supposed to think he's the best person in the world. Personally I like him because I find him interesting, though I can see why others wouldn't, but not everyone has to be a role model. And I think we're mostly supposed to be on Miguel's side, regardless.

^"unfriendly and not brave character we're supposed to root for". Sorry, but "and not brave" really matters in this context and can't be omitted. If Tulio unfriendliness was other side of protectiveness, confrontationalness and honesty( like in Esmeralda's and Tzipporah's case), I wouldn't mind it. But Tulio is not a person to be aggressive and rude with dangerous and powerful people and this what makes his rudeness more annoying to me. Rude people can gain my respect by being consistently rude, no matter who they speak to.
No one is perfect but to me "perfect vs people as flawed as Tulio" is a false dilemma. In my opinion he has way too many flaws to be likeable and has no admirable traits( unlike even Shang). Speaking honestly, I wouldn't mind if he were the best person in the world because he is by far my most handsome animated male and I hate that my feelings about his looks and personality are that contrasting. If I found him less gorgeous-looking, I would be more neutral about his personality. But I rate his looks 10 000/10 and personality 1/10 on a 1-10 scale( Shang I'd rate 5/10( looks) and 1,5/10(personality)).
Speaking of flaws, I would prefer if Tulio were handled the way I handled three princesses from Mulan Ii in my upcoming fanfiction. Ting-Ting is loyal to her father but it borderline dependence on him and idealization of him and has a strong sense of discipline and cool-headed and in the face of danger but this makes her too stern. Mei is unconventional and a free thinker, independent and can be a sole fighter, her combative spirit can't be broken by lack of support and but this makes her overconfident and a terrible listener. Su is humble to the point of being insecure, cooperative to the point of being to dependent, acceptive to the point of being but passive and weak-willed. Ting-Ting is the most reliable, Mei is the most loving and Su is the most soft-spoken and humble. (This is how things are IN MY HEADCANON.) I don't think Miguel and Tulio are the similiar case at all. Tulio is harsh and insensitive without being protective and honest and quite non-confrontational without being benevolent and well-mannered. This the biggest( but not the only) reason I dislike him. Being protective and being gentle and polite are both very important ways of caring about others in my opinion and doing even only one of these actively is very honorable but Tulio actively does neither, he is worse than Miguel at both. If he were worse only at one, I wouldn't have that much problem.

UnholyNoise picked enemies-turned-lovers vs love from first side false dilemma:
especially annoying when (e.g. tzipporah/moses) it's obvious they'll end up together, and it's pretty much all the love-interest character exists to do. often no plot relevance, and, once they're together, no ambitions or motivation outside of being arm candy for the hero.

i liked sophie from anastasia, what's wrong with her portrayal?

^ I think she is still way too dorky and Vlad's attraction to her is played for laughs. Plus-size in media face similiar problems with WoC women. Both plus-size women and WoC women( when portrayed as attractive) are most oftenly way more sexualized characters than Belle and Ariel.

Vizsla4 picked unfriendly and not brave character which is meant to be rooted for:
I don't think Tigress is arrogant or mean. She probably finds it unfair that Po becomes the dragon warrior, after she has trained her whole life for that.
