The reason I asked this is because I see a ton of heroes/heroines being shipped with villains/villainesses. Those include everything from Batman and Poison Ivy to Scrooge and Flintheart, to *gag me* Esmeralda and Frollo. While there are some that I understand, like Hans and Anna (honestly I thought they were a better couple than Anna and Kristof), I guess I don't understand the appeal shipping characters that hate each other, and have often been violent to each other in the past.

Some of them, yeah. Mostly those with a dynamic where they were friends before or in an alternate universe where the villain is reformed.

I don't think I ever have. Unless you count Anna and Hans, but that's an unusual situation. I quite liked them together at the start.

I lack imagination when it comes to shipping characters in general, but I'm really not into inventing romance between enemies. I think some of the Harry Potter pairings by fans are the worst, they make me cringe.

^yeah, agreed on Anna & Hans, but only at the beginning. I honestly think her and Hans had so much more chemistry together, and it was fake on one side so that tells you what I think about Kristoff/Anna as a couple. Hans/Anna worked so much better.

Also agreed about the HP pairings. The worst are the Dramione fans - I have no problem with people shipping them in terms of fanfictions and the like (I used to read fics with them) but when they think it should have happened in the actual canon... it's like no, he was discriminatory towards her and bullied her for years, it would've been terrible if they ended up together. (sorry, off-topic lol)

I really liked Anna and Hans, and I spoiled the movie for myself before seeing it in theaters that he was evil, but Disney managed to convince me that it must've been a different character that was evil, while watching the movie the first time, and I actually started to believe Hans was good. There wasn't any hint that Hans was evil. He even acted nice when Anna wasn't around to the villagers. It wasn't a very good twist villain, in my opinion.

Mostly crossover ships but yeah. I'm terrible about it. But as long as they're not like, pedophilic or based on other enormous power inbalances, I don't usually see anything wrong with them.

Yulan(Shan Yu/Mulan). Also I love Seti/Tuya from Prince of Egypt, canon and happy villain/heroine couple.
