People seems to have stupid double-standards when it comes to this. I think this is really a pathetic reason not to like a character, especially if the character is well-written. Just because a character is from a sequel it doesn't mean they're a bad character. It's like if I say that a character sucks because they're an anime character. It's a very lame reason to hate or dislike someone.
Well there's something called Metathesiophobia-fear of change. Which some people may have, when they watched a sequel. They thought were going to watch almost the exact same classic and instead got change. That's understandable though a weird fear I wouldn't blame them.
^Understandable, especially if your favorite characters get personality makeovers in the sequel.
But I don't think we should hate characters simply because they first appear in a sequel. Many of them are like-able.
We're not talking about the sequels, but the characters. So yeah, while I understand what @PeacefulCritic said about people being close-minded about the sequels and afraid of change, it's still a stupid reason.
