Craig Smith entered a room. Meg was already sitting there. She had found it strange she had to meet this man in this room.
Craig introduced him as her lawyer. “I’ve read your files. You’ve been accused of several murders, but the only witness we have is now in a mental institution, so his statement would be worthless. Believe it or not, but you have a real chance of getting out of here without a scratch”
Meg looked down depressed. Evan had sworn he’d do anything to get her the death penalty. “What if you can’t proof my innocence?”
“Miss Masters, maybe it helps if I tell you I defended Castiel Novak in a pedophilia and murder case and he was exonerated” Craig tried to reassure her. “Unfortunately everything went wrong with him after that”
“What do you mean?” Meg asked. Everyone told her shad been close to this Castiel, so she wanted to know everything there was to know.
“Shortly after Castiel had been found not guilty he started murdering people. You were believed to be his second in command. You were also believed to be dead, but so was he” Craig explained.
“Believed to be?” Meg frowned confused.
“According to your statement ten months ago you killed Castiel in an act of self-defense. But not long after that you stabbed yourself in the heart with a fragment of a mirror”
“So I’m supposed to be dead?” Meg exclaimed upset.
“And so is he” Craig added.

Since there was no way any of them was going to get any sleep, they packed their bags and loaded the Impala. Dean placed himself behind the wheel, Sam sat next to him and Meg on the backseat.
“First stop: Pontiac, Illinois” Dean said, as he started the engines and drove ahead. As they drove Dean turned on the radio to break the silence.
Meg stared out of the window. She felt utterly powerless. Had she still been a demon she would’ve just zapped herself to him. But then maybe she wouldn’t have felt this way and she wouldn’t even bother to go find him.
Maybe this was a sign. Maybe she was supposed to let go and go back to her old life.
No!, she reproached herself. You’re not going back to killing for fun. You didn’t get this far to throw it all away. You’re going to find Cas and get him back.
“Everything okay, there?” Dean asked.
“Yeah, I’m good” Meg replied with a mischievous smile.
