Dean entered the Cheboygan County Jail. A guard brought him to the visitor’s space. He had to sit on a chair and Plexiglas separated him from the inmates.
A few minutes later another guard brought Meg to the other side of the Plexiglas. She picked up the phone and Dean did the same. “Who are you?” she asked.
“I’m Dean. I’m a friend of Cas. Do you remember Cas?” Dean asked. Meg shook her head. “I know I’m supposed to, but I don’t” “What do you remember?” Dean insisted. “Nothing!” Meg exclaimed frustrated. “All I know is that I woke up in a hospital and that there was a man named Evan who told me I was his fiancée. I don’t know what happened before that”
“And after that?” Dean continued. Meg told Dean everything she had told the police. “Wait. What did you say the woman’s name was?” Dean interrupted her. “Ruby. Her name was Ruby. Why? Do you know her?” Meg asked. “If it’s the same and it would be too much of a coincidence if it wasn’t. Listen, Meg, you just have to stick to your story. The only one that knows the truth is Cas and he’s not talking right now”
“Well, of course not. I killed him” Meg replied snarky. “Did I kill him?” she asked careful.
“Yes” Dean nodded. “But somehow he came back to live. You were supposed to be dead, too, and yet here you are. Someone must’ve pulled you out and erased your memory” He said the last sentence more to himself than to Meg. He looked up and saw her confused expression. “Never mind. I’ll get you out of here. And I’ll get your memories back”
“Why would you do that? Are we friends?” Meg asked surprised.
“Not exactly” Dean responded. “But I have to set things right with Cas. I did something that really upset him and I need to make it right”
In the meantime Sam had told Cas Meg was alive. Cas stood from the bed and walked to the window. Sam had expected Cas to say something, to be relieved or happy, but he was silent as ever.
Sam was lying to him. He thought that if he said Meg was alive he’d start talking again. But it couldn’t be true. Why would Sam do this to him? He knew how much Meg meant to him. To use her like that was a sign of disrespect.

Since there was no way any of them was going to get any sleep, they packed their bags and loaded the Impala. Dean placed himself behind the wheel, Sam sat next to him and Meg on the backseat.
“First stop: Pontiac, Illinois” Dean said, as he started the engines and drove ahead. As they drove Dean turned on the radio to break the silence.
Meg stared out of the window. She felt utterly powerless. Had she still been a demon she would’ve just zapped herself to him. But then maybe she wouldn’t have felt this way and she wouldn’t even bother to go find him.
Maybe this was a sign. Maybe she was supposed to let go and go back to her old life.
No!, she reproached herself. You’re not going back to killing for fun. You didn’t get this far to throw it all away. You’re going to find Cas and get him back.
“Everything okay, there?” Dean asked.
“Yeah, I’m good” Meg replied with a mischievous smile.
