Me and hellomia are working on a story together. I write one chapter, she wrights the next, and so on. Here I go.
Lithe mud-streaked bodies scampered across the cave floor. The night sky was foggy, no stars to be seen. Their damp bodies slipping on the rocks and their pads pounding lightly on the floor, they finally stopped. A black-and-white tom stepped forward from the crowd. "Let light shine on our day when we gain strength again," he yowled. "And when we finally find the four right cats to fight the dreaded monster. He will no longer take our kits! he will no longer kill our warriors! He will no longer live..."
The cats all cheered with pride. A dappled brown and white she-cat jumped in front and mewed, "Bloodfang will be dead!"
"Hi guys," Midnight sat down next to her brother and Austin. "What's up?"
"Nothing you need to know," the tabby retorted.
Midnight stuck her tongue out and faced her brother. "So...?" she wrapped her tail around her paws and looked at him sternly.
"Why do you always have to know everything-" he broke off as Frost sat next to Midnight. "Hi guys!" she mewed happily, pricking her ears to get into the conversation. "My mentor said that he was going to teach me to hunt adders!"
Midnight was jealous. "Really?" she mewed, blinking in astonishment. "I want to!"
Frost held her chin high in the air. "Ha." she looked at Thunder and continued: "how about you Thunder? Would you like to learn?"
Before Thunder could say anything, Austin broke in. "Why do you only offer him? Why not us?"
Midnight jabbed the angry tom in the side. "Leave her alone, you stupid furball." Austin barred his teeth. "Why don't you leave me alone?"
Midnight smirked. "Because, you're just a softy." she sneered, standing up and stepping on his paw. "Ow! You mouse-brain." he hissed, also standing up. He cuffed her ears and growled.
"Aw!" Frost broke in. "Don't you two just love each other?"
They both faced Frost, and Midnight saw her brother chuckle. She also noticed how close Thunder and Frost were sitting, their pelts brushing against each others. They might have not known it, but those two apprentices seemed to like each other more than just friends.
"Shut up, you blue idiot." Midnight spat. Frost's eyes widened and her polite blue gaze turned fiery cold. "Lookie here, the tomboy managed to think of a comeback."
Midnight stood up and unsheathed her claws. If this weak little bug wanted a fight, she would get one. "I'll show you something that will be scratched deep into your mind forever," she growled.
Frost laughed. "Oh, really? Like what?"
For an answer, Midnight pounced on the white she-cat and dug her claws into her chest. "That!"
Frost screeched and clawed Midnight's nose. Blood dripped from her wound and spatted on the ground. Before any of them could make a move again, Thunder bowled over Midnight and flung her off Frost. "Leave her alone!" he hissed, pushing her back with his forepaws. Midnight landed with a thud, and looked up at her brother with sorrow and anger burning in her gaze.
"What's going on here?" a calm voice asked. Midnight saw FireClan's medicine cat, Echo, looking at Midnight with worry in her eyes. "Why is your nose bleeding?" without another word, Echo bounded over a set cobwebs at Midnight's paws. "What happened?" the silver she-cat asked again, pushing the cobwebs closer.
"Frost attacked me!" Midnight answered, jumping in the air and glaring at the blue eyed apprentice.
"I did not! You attacked me!" Frost retorted, getting angry and putting a paw out.
"Yes you did!" Midnight spat.
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!" Midnight was starting to get angry, and she let out a long hiss and arched up her back, fluffing up her fur.
"Stop!" the medicine cat yowled, shooting mad glances at Midnight and Frost. "you guys should know better."
Midnight groaned. "What are you, my mother?" she asked annoyed.
Echo's eyes widened. "No." she looked down. and walked away. Midnight looked at Thunder. Why was she upset? Midnight shrugged and went over to find Austin's sisters.
Echo hung her head in despair. She felt like her heart had cracked open and stole. She flopped down into her mossy bedding and looked into the blankness. She didn't know she was crying until a tear slid down onto her paw. She quickly wiped them away before anyone saw. Not only could her mate not join the Clan, but she was also separated from her own children. She thought of the day they were born, and when the smallest died of cold. The third kit she had was Moss, but the she-kit died in a blizzard three days after it was born.
For some reason Echo shivered. All these thoughts made her scared for some reason...
Echo jolted awake. She hadn't even realized she had fallen asleep. She looked outside her den, and saw that the last hunting patrol of the day was returning. The sun was telling them that day was over, but Echo didn't feel like going back to sleep. She couldn't help but almost wailing in sadness as she saw her son and daughter walking to the apprentice's den together. Jealousy took over her as she saw Butterscotch go up to Thunder and Midnight and lick them no the ears for goodnight. She held back a hiss of anger and slumped back into bed.
"Goodnight Thunder." Frost went up to the gray tom and nudged him.
He touched noses with her, and she lay next to him. Her brothers lay in the other corner of the den, Koja quietly mewling in his sleep. Coda was fluffing up the moss and tossing it around. "Coda," Frost giggled. "Go to sleep."
Coda looked at her and laid down in his moss-bed. On the other corner were Amy and Brendon's kids. Alice and Blakie lay in a heap while Austin lay by himself, his eyes still open. Thunder's sister, Midnight, put her bed close to Austin's, but Frost could tell she was trying to keep a distance. Frost finally closed her eyes and sleep took her at once.
An orange she-cat dipped her head towards Frost. "Hello," she echoed. "Come with me."
Frost wasn't sure if she should listen and go, but curiosity was too much. She fallowed the orange she-cat until they came to a shallow pool with crystal blue water. It seemed to shine and Frost finally saw in the light that she was in a cave. The light from the pool was dim, but she could still see around. The orange she-cat faced her and stared: "Hello, Frost. I've brought you here because you are one of the chosen cats. You are destined to bring the four Clans to one in time of great battle. Three other cats will see a cat from StarClan and receive this dream. It is for you to find out who, and make you four be the ones to bring the Clans and become one."
Jumping awake, Frost looked around the den. Everyone was still asleep; well, besides Coda, Echo had probably woken him up so she could teach him more medicine cat stuff.
A rustle came from the left corner and Frost saw Alice waking up. The white she-cat stretched, and nudged her sister awake.
"Morning, Frost," she said as she walked by Frost.
Blakie blinked in hello and fallowed her sister out the den.
Frost thought about her dream, and she wondered who and when the three other cats would receive the dream...
Okay, Leah, now you write ch.2. ^^
