Ch 9:
Jay thought now would be a good time to go on his daily two - hour run. He knew he hadn't done that yet today since he had to fly out here in Vegas. He took his plate with him to the sink and washed both plates and put them in the dishwasher since Steve didn't wash his plate. After washing the dinner dishes, he put the leftover pizza into the fridge and then the left the apartment for his daily run.
Jay figured since it was too early to go to bed after the run, he thought it would be perfect to call Barry if he wasn't throwing any concerts tonight to let him know he was finally here in Vegas. Great idea, Jay thought to himself.
"I'll go do that when I get into the apartment again," Jay said to himself, turning onto the Strip.
While running by the Flamingo that evening, he could hear all sorts of concerts going on at that hour. He could hear lots of rock and roll playing but he didn't bother stopping to go and see who was playing. He wanted to go right through his two - hour run without stopping. He loved running on the Strip since it always had so much action each hour he ran by here. After he second hour on his run, Jay turned around and went back to Steve's apartment. He unlocked the apartment at eight o'clock that evening and drank two entire glasses of water since it made him thirsty. He couldn't believe it was finally eight o'clock. He still couldn't believe how fast time flew by. Jay went to the kitchen table and dialed Barry's number at the Paris Hotel and was able to get through Barry.
"Hello?" Jay heard Barry say.
"Hi, Barry. Am I calling at a wrong time?" Jay asked.
"No. Why?" Barry asked.
"I thought you'd like to know I'm finally here in Vegas," Jay said.
"Thanks for letting me know," Barry said.
"I got in before four o'clock this afternoon. I was planning on calling you tomorrow morning but since it's still early tonight, I'd make the call tonight," Jay said.
"You can call anytime you feel like it, Jay, just so I'd know you're here in Vegas. Are you ready to do our CD yet?" Barry asked.
"Some. What about you?"
"Not yet, but I'm sure something will hit me," Jay said.
"What do you have in mind for the CD?" Jay asked his friend.
"We'll talk about it later instead of the phone line," Barry said.
"Makes sense," Jay said.
"Do you want to come over to Paris tomorrow and we can get started on talking about the CD?" Barry asked.
"Sure. I'll let Paul know tomorrow morning that I'm here in Vegas. What time do you want me to call you tomorrow?" Jay asked.
"Anytime between nine - thirty and ten would sound good," Barry said.
"Okay. Do you have my friend's phone number where I'm staying if you need to reach me?" Jay asked.
"No."
"I'll give it to you tomorrow but for now I'm just letting you know I made it to Vegas safely," Jay said.
"Glad to hear you're back in town," Barry said, "but I did miss you."
"And I missed you too," Jay said.
They were finally off the telephone for the night. Jay knew it was good to hear his friend's voice again.
