In my opinion, 'Goodbye Lullaby' is the best work ever done by Avril. It is something different from what she has ever done before. This album totally reflects the deep and mature side of Avril. Goodbye Lullaby is by far Avril’s finest work – she has an exceptional pop sensibility that she can tap in to on nearly all the tracks on the album – there’s not a single song that isn’t amazing! It’s a fantastic album and effort from Avril! This album is full of pure melodies, but if you're in for autotune music and big commercial hits than this album is not for you, 'cause its's about lyrics, emotions, feelings and is really stripped down. This album shows Avril's AMAZING vocals, and she entered deep down into her work by being a solo writer and producer, for the first time. I’d be surprised if most of these other pop stars could dress themselves in the morning. Not many are even on the same level as Avril when it comes to pure, true talent.
I think she has a unique and gorgeous voice, and I think she really tried to put who she was inside on this album, which is brave.
The only thing I found to be weak in this album is the vocabulary in few songs.
Otherwise, this album is just PERFECT!
All in all, it's probably the most beautiful album I've ever heard, cheesy as that sounds. I was kinda discouraged after listening to the previews (mainly because I wasn't fully paying attention) but after listening to the full songs, my mind changed completely. Some of the songs seriously make me want to cry, like "Goodbye," knowing who it's about and all. But yeah, I personally think this album makes the previous 3 seem dull, but maybe that's just because I've made myself sick to death of them from constant listening over the years...
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
Best Track: Alice
Worst Track: Stop Standing There
Verdict: Goodbye Lullaby is by far her best album yet and shows true her songwriting and vocal talent. IT'S AMAZING!!!
I don't even get this answer, What The Hell isn't like Avril's older songs? it's poppy and catchy, and Let Go and Under My Skin are emotional and deep... Someone explain to me what's wrong with this person?
Goodbye Lullaby is her best album yet in my opinion. When I first listened to it it was the most amazing feeling because I'd waited so long for it and it didn't feel real that I was listening to it :) Avril is amazing, I'm so proud of her that she managed to win the battle with RCA and release the album she wanted. It was definitely worth it. I love it, my favourite album of all time :)
My favourite track is Darlin and Push. I also love Smile, Wish You Were Here and Everybody Hurts but every track I can relate to and love.

What do you mean "battle with RCA?" I know she was having trouble with them, causing the year delay, but do you know the details?
They didn't want her to release deep and emotional songs. They wanted another 'The Best Damn Thing' record which Avril didn't want at all. They also didn't like that she was writing most of the songs by herself, they wanted to put their tracks on the album with her only co writing like before. I remember watching an interview from like 2003 or something where Av said she had a whole book of songs that she wanted to record but they wouldn't let her. I know that's a long time ago, but it was still happening.
Oh, that really sucks. Well, at least now whenever people start bashing her for TBDT, we can blame it on RCA and not be lying ;P. Wonder what she had to do to get her way this time...
Yeah, exactly :) I heard that in order to get the album released she had to put a few 'pop singles' as she put it on her album like Smile, WTH. In interviews she just said she put her foot down and got her way.. :)
I love it. I just bought it last night and I can't stop listening to it. The vocals are great, and I love all of the songs. I think it's her best work yet. It's similar style to get other stuff, just more mature, better.
I think she did a fantastic job, Avril just keeps getting better! And I love her Bad Reputation cover, I think it's even better than the Joan Jett version.
