what do slugs even eat anyways?

Well, I think slugs can usually get their own food, whereas stray cats, especially if they are house cats that got abandoned have relied so much on people to feed them that they can't always catch their own food, not enough to survive on anyway.

slugs eat dirt and theres plenty enough of that on this planet so i dont think we have to worry about Mr. Slug over there.

I cant see the comparison between cats and slugs, anyway Im sure slugs can find there own food

They eat plants. They love leaves off of apple trees, as I've found out from experience.

I think taking in a stray domesticated species is more important than feeding a naturally wild animal, just because domesticated animals rely more on being taken care of nowadays, whereas a wild animal is more likely to know how to take care of itself. Sometimes I'll give a wild animal (like a slug) a treat though, like a nice leaf or something!

I think invertebrates are generally underrated in the animal kingdom. They're just a slug the same way a cat is just a cat and I'm just a human. I'm fine with feeding wild animals, but like I said I think the priority is making sure strays from domesticated species are looked after, as they're the ones who don't have evolution on their side.
