I live in just about the most liberal, left wing town in America, so I always get really weirded out when I see people answer no to stuff like "do you know any vegans"(several, including one who doesn't even eat sugar) or "do you know any gay people"(about half my friends parents, and my other half on fanpop has 4 moms) until I remember that the rest of the world's not like us. My friend's considering being vegan (she's been vegetarian almost since birth) but she can't give up milk chocolate.

I think Vegetarian is ok, but i think Vegan is stupid. You cant eat hardly anything as a vegan.

One of my teachers is a vegan, and I am a vegetarian. I still eat eggs and dairy, but I wish I could stop with the eggs. I have nothing wrong with eating dairy, but sometimes the way it happens is just too harsh!

I live in a very right wing town with many hunters so i only know one vegetarian and shes not a strict vegetarian.

I only know of one in person - one long-term vegan anyway. I know a few people who have attempted to go vegan, but none (other than the one long-term) managed to do it for more than a few weeks.

I imagine it's very rare where I'm from though, because almost every type of food around here randomly has milk and/or egg as an ingredient. Even our local health food supermarkets (that only retail vegetarian goods) mostly contain dairy. Vegan food does exist in those shops, but not enough to actually live off of.

I wish I could be a vegan, but I woulnd't be able to stand it! I just research what I eat before buying. I know a couple vegitarians though.

She struggles with being vegan when she goes out for meals though, and has to just go with vegetarian options because a lot of places don't cater for vegans.

Veganism does soo much to help animls! it saves lives! plus, it's super healthy as long as you make sure you get all your vitamins through your food. PETA offers a free vegan starter kit: check them out:)

well my dad was vegetarian but he's not anymore.

How times have changed! Now I know lots of vegans and became one myself a few years ago, after realising I actually could do it very easily. It's improved my health so much too (fewer asthma attacks, less eczema, more energy, more physical strength and my acne has gone completely).

I cannot think of a single thing I stopped eating since going vegan. Looking at our old comments on here is hilarious! Even though there are definitely many more options now, I bet veganism was still more accessible than we thought back then. Nice try, mainstream media, but we know your game! XD
