No, not vegan. I will become a vegetarian, though.

I really don't see the point of being a vegan or a vegetarian. Animals are here to eat. I really don't see how you could get by on just eating lettuce your whole life.

^ "Animals are here to eat" is the attitude that's the problem tbh. They're alive and sentient but the industry treats them like they're not. Fucking capitalism, man. It's disgusting.

I don't think I'd ever go vegan but in college I'm going to try to become vegetarian. It's just that's it's easier there when there are a lot of food choices as opposed to being home when I eat whatever my mom makes.

When you eat meat think of the animals that have been killed for you. If you love animals then you won't eat them, plain and simple.

Biologically speaking, we're animals, therefore we have as much right to eat other animals, as other predators. Thinking of it this way, in the world around us, countless other animals kill other species for food and sometimes for fun. I don't condone the killing of endangered species, torturing animals, being cruel to animals, killing pets (unless euthanising for good reasons) or hunting for sport. However, we're classified as omnivores, since we have been like that since before we even could think rationally, when we were just a species of ape known as Australopithecus africanus.

I don't think it's wrong to farm animals and kill them for food, but that's only thing I would ever agree is necessary. Anything else has already gone well past 'cruel'.

@ITF. Oh right, because it's that simple, huh? I know we have argued about this before and there's no point in trying to change your mind, but don't forget about the natural world around you - despite being able to think and have conscious thought, we're still animals and we can't leave that behind.

I love the concept of being vegan but I know I could never manage.

@ITF. Why haven't you already gone vegan, then? If you love animals, it should be easy for you to suddenly quit buying products such as, let's see: most white sugar (refined with the use of bone char), brown sugar, powdered sugar, and "raw" sugar (made from refined white sugar), confectioner's glaze (which is actually resin excreted by a bug), beers and wines (many breweries use the membrane of a special fish's bladder for filtering purposes), red foods (pigment from a cochineal insect), margarines (may contain milk proteins, whey or gelatin), Jell-O, marshmallows, and gummy bears (contain gelatin), soy cheeses (can contain milk proteins) cake mixes (can contain sugar, milk products, or lard), chips (can contain chicken fat), and most shampoos, and countless other things.

Looks like some nerves have been hit here. As usual the arguments against it can barely be called arguments. If you think vegans literally eat nothing but lettuce you don't really have room to criticize the whole movement.
