Okay, so in the movie, the pigs destroyed the birds' village and stole all their eggs, however, the slingshot has the potential of being used against them.
You'd expect: That the pigs either destroy the slingshot or take it away.
Instead: They ignore it when escaping the island.
As a result: The birds use the slingshot to fly over the walls barricading the city of the pigs to get the eggs back, ultimately leaving the whole town in shambles.
