Yes, Mme Giry was the one who saved his life but she wouldn't go to him herself. He might not feel confident around Meg until he knew her better because she might blab but Mme Giry has kept him to herself for so many years so she wouldn't say anything to anyone. Only 1 person really knows him and 1 seen him but they've kept it to themselves too!!!
