After I have done with the testing of characters' screen time in this episode, I decided to write an article for this episode. In this episode, Ash was still disappointed that he had lost in the final round and didn't feel like doing anything but sitting on his bed and worrying about it. Then Misty came to him to cheer him up but Ash was still in denial that he pissed her off and they started fighting until Pikachu electrocuted them to stop fighting anymore. But the TV was suddenly turned on by Pikachu's electricity which showed the announcer announcing the next round which Ash and his friends immediately decided to go to Ritchie to wish him luck in the next round. But Ritchie gave his best in the next round he had fought against Assunta but unfortunately he lost in the end which disappointed Ash and his friends and they didn't expect him to lose in his last fight. Although Ritchie was a little disappointed to lose in the final round, he wasn't too worried and decided to take Sparky (his Pikachu) in his arms to take him near a lake to make him feel better. At the same time, Ash had come to him to apologize, but even though he felt sorry for him, he smiled and told him that they had one more thing in common, so they let their Pikachus play with each other while discussing their losses in the league. But at the same time, Team Rocket suddenly appeared who had already hatched a plan to catch both Pikachus by holding shovels in their hands to dig a hole to catch them. When Ritchie plaintively explained to Ash about losing the final round in the league, he thought he would win at first, but immediately realized his mistakes when he lost in the end, but he still wasn't too worried when he said that losing isn't really so bad which made Ash surprised when he said that as he realized that he wasn't too worried about losing the league rather than trying to become better than he was before while thinking with a worried face. Then Ritchie told Ash that they would make a promise to become Pokémon Masters no matter what and Ash agreed to what he said he decided to shout from afar "Pokémon Masters! That's us!". But at the same time that Pikachu and Sparky were playing, they suddenly fell into the hole dug by Team Rocket to catch them and their trainers heard their cries and immediately went to save them, but they suddenly fell into another hole that Team Rocket dug to prevent them from saving them in the end and felt a great pain from falling into the hole. At the same time, Team Rocket appeared and laughed when they saw them falling into the hole they dug and were very happy that their plan succeeded, which made Ash so angry that he tried to climb up the hole, but he fell back down which this startled Ritchie, but with this fall, causing them to fall deeper into the hole as Team Rocket continued to laugh and were proud of their plan and immediately caught the Pikachus in a cage that they were trying to get out with their electric attack, but they failed because the cage was electric-proof which upsets them in the end. At the same time, Ash and Ritchie thought of a way to get out of the deep hole they decided to call their flying Pokémon out and when they did, Team Rocket was surprised and did not expect this to happen and our heroes tried their best to fight Team Rocket with various purposes when they ordered their Pokémon to do so and in the end, they managed to save their Pikachus and defeated Team Rocket with their plan they made for them. After that, Ritchie thanked Ash for the help, but Ash told him that they did it together. After going to the ceremony to applaud the winners of the league and watching the fireworks in awe before the ceremony ended, Ritchie told Ash how much fun they were having even though they both lost in the league which Ash agreed with what he told him. At the same time, Pikachu and Sparky came to their trainers and Ritchie noticed how much Pikachu liked Ash and was happy, but at the same time, he with Sparky on his shoulder decided to say goodbye to Ash and Pikachu as he was leaving with a sad look on his face as if he was about to cry at being separated from his best friend, but Ash told him not to forget the promise they would make if they got back together again and he promised and he didn't forget it at all as he smiled at him and left without worrying anymore in the end. Here are the ranking results that I have gotten for each character who have appeared in the episode:
19. Falco/Ritchie's Spearow (4 seconds)
In the battle between Ritchie and Assunta, one of them is revealed to have a Spearow that was used to fight against a Tentacool, but it's unclear which Pokémon belonged to which trainer, but I do believe that Spearow belonged to Ritchie (who have nicknamed him "Falco" in link of his story) because he was shown first just like Zippo the Charmander and Happy the Butterfee did during the same fight sequence, but unfortunately he was only shown during this fight sequence and haven't appeared in any other scene after that, so that's why he fell in the last place though.
18. Weezing (5 seconds)
Once again, James' Weezing have only appeared in one scene where Jessie ordered him to use his "Smog" attack to prevent Ash and his Bulbasaur from freeing Pikachu and Sparky, but he ordered his Pidgeotto to use his "Gust" attack to blow away back to Team Rocket which it worked, but after that, he hasn't appeared after that scene which is why he is still low again, but he avoided the last place just like in the previous episode though.
17. Pidgeotto (13 seconds)
Well yes, Pidgeotto is the one out of Ash's Pokémon who got the least screen time out all of them and he was only seen in the scene where Ash called him out to fight Team Rocket and to save both Pikachus from them, so yes, we have two bird Pokémon that belonged to two heroes who were ranked so low, but they did their best to avenge their defeats though.
16. Happy/Ritchie's Butterfree (20 seconds)
Once again, Happy has managed to beat out Ash's Pidgeotto by a few more seconds because it was first seen in the fight sequence where it fought against Assunta's Venomoth prior to the scene where Ritchie called it out to help him get out of the deep hole, but he didn't use it to fight against Team Rocket, but he did use Zippo to fight against them instead, so that's why it got some more screen time though.
15. Squirtle (26 seconds)
Well yes, Squirtle has managed to beat out Happy for once again, but he didn't get that much screen time comparing to the previous episode, but he was one of the Pokémon who was seen in the next scene which had happened after Team Rocket's defeat and that's the scene where Ritchie thanked Ash for his help, so that's why he got some more screen time afterwards.
14. Zippo/Ritchie's Charmander (29 seconds)
And here we have another Pokémon that belonged to Ritchie who have managed to beat out Ash's Squirtle by a few more seconds this time, but just like Happy the Butterfree, Zippo was first seen fighting against Assunta's Rhydon in the fight sequence and later Ritchie used him to fight against Team Rocket and was also seen in the next scene that I have mentioned above.
13. Bulbasaur (36 seconds)
Well, this one will surprise you a bit, but yes, Bulbasaur has more screen time than both Squirtle and Zippo the Charmander despite of type disadvantages and he was first seen where Ash called him out and ordered him to use his "Vine Whip" attack to get the cage by freeing Pikachu and Sparky, but he failed at the first attempt, but with Pidgeotto's help, Ash ordered him to use his "Razor Leaf" attack to free both Pikachus and he succeeded at the end.
12. Delia/Ash's mother (1 minute, 28 seconds)
And finally we have a character who isn't a Pokémon and that is Ash's mother (aka Delia Ketchum), but in this episode, she is the human character who got the least screen time out of all other human characters, but at least, she got more screen time than in the previous episode and made it to 1 minute of screen time for once again.
11. Professor Oak (1 minute, 35 seconds)
Once again, Prof. Oak has around the same screen time as Delia, but he managed to beat her by a few more seconds, but there is some funny thing to tell you is that he "scolded" Ash for not training his Charizard properly which is what he thought why didn't Charizard obeyed him and lost at the end. Both Oak and Delia were seen later during the league's ceremony and at the end where they were standing together with Misty and Brock to wait for Ash to go back to Pallet Town together at the end of the episode.
10. Togepi (1 minute, 49 seconds)
Once again, the baby Pokémon has managed to beat out the old man by a few more second and make it to the top 10, but just like in the previous episode, it has much less screen time than its trainer which you will find that out how she was ranked in that episode.
9. Meowth (2 minutes, 3 seconds)
Once again, Meowth ended up being the one who got the least screen time out of Team Rocket trio, but at least, he managed to make it to 2 minutes of screen time just like in the previous two episodes, but he is very upset with his placement as he wants to steal more screen time from the "twerps" with Jessie and James' help, but they all failed in the end though.
8. Brock (2 minutes, 22 seconds)
Now this is something that will surprise you a bit more, but yes, Brock surprisingly has managed to beat out Meowth by a few more seconds this time, but he still ended up being the one out of Ash's traveling companions who got the least screen time in this episode, so yes, sorry for upsetting any Brock fans here, but he tried his best by beating out one of the Team Rocket members though.
7. Jessie (2 minutes, 37 seconds)
And of course, Jessie beats out Brock by a few more seconds to get revenge on him for defeating Meowth because she didn't expect him to get more screen time than Meowth which is how she beats him to avenge Meowth's defeat, but the surprising thing is that she is not the one who gets the most screen time for this episode, so yes, we know who is the one who gets the most screen time out of them.
6. James (2 minutes, 39 seconds)
And of course, James is the one who gets the most screen time out of them, but he tried his best to help Jessie and Meowth to steal more screen time from others, but that's not the only thing they failed, they also failed to make it to the top 5 which is why they were upset about it though.
5. Sparky/Ritchie's Pikachu (2 minutes, 56 seconds)
And here we have the character who managed to make it to the top 5 and that is of course Ritchie's Pikachu (Sparky) by finally beating out Team Rocket to defend himself from them with the help of Ash's Pikachu and both of them used their "Thundershock" attack to recharge the cage which with that caused Team Rocket to blast-off after being electrocuted by the cage and that's how they were defeated in the end. Sparky was first seen when Ritchie decided to call him out to fight against Assunta's Ivysaur, but unfortunately, Sparky was quickly defeated by Ivysaur's "Solar Beam" attack which is how Ritchie lost to Assunta because her Ivysaur was so fast and strong than he expected it to be, but then he decided to calm down and take care of his Pikachu more than before he met Ash, which with that, he gave Sparky the idea to sit on his shoulder as he had seen Pikachu sitting on Ash's shoulder after they met from the events of the first episode where they appeared together.
4. Misty (2 minutes, 57 seconds)
Now this is something that will make all Misty fans happy is that she managed to get a lot of screen time just like in the previous episode, but yes, she surprisingly managed to beat out Sparky by one second to take the fourth place that makes Ritchie surprised and a little nervous when she did that to his Pikachu at first, but he doesn't mind it because he knows that she is also Ash's friend and that Sparky did his best by making it to the top 5, so that's why he isn't too worried about it though.
3. Pikachu (4 minutes, 41 seconds)
Once again, Ash's Pikachu has managed to enter the top 3 by making it to the third place this time because of Team Rocket who have managed to steal more screen time from him as they caught him and Sparky in the cage, but of course, he still managed to beat out Team Rocket in terms of screen time which is why he is still in the top 3 though.
2. Ritchie (4 minutes, 51 seconds)
Once again, Ritchie has managed to stay in the top 3 by getting back to the second place to earn another silver medal by the amount of screen time he got overall, but he also did that to avenge Sparky's defeat and helping Ash's Pikachu to get into the third place as he also cares about him and not just Sparky and Ash, so yes, he is so kind-hearted and friendly which is his personality after all.
1. Ash (6 minutes, 51 seconds)
Once again, Ash has managed to get the most screen time out of all characters by taking the top spot, but he have gotten less screen time than in the previous two episodes because of Team Rocket trying to steal more screen time from him, but Ritchie helped him not lose more screen time from Team Rocket which is why he still has 6 minutes of screen time just like in the previous episode thanks to the help of his best friend.
And that's all of the results that I got from this episode and I'm planning to test the screen time of characters in the first Lugia episode of the Johto saga where Ash and Ritchie are reunited and meet a young boy named Oliver who have befriended a baby Lugia that he nicknamed him "Silver" which I will explain more about that episode in the article that I will make soon.
